Vietnam restricts crypto Exchange testing Program to only five platforms
Vietnam is tightening its measures in regulating crypto assets by limiting the crypto exchange trial program to only five licensed operators.
This decision reflects the government's cautious approach, even though Vietnam is known as one of the countries with the highest crypto adoption rates in the world.
According to a Vietnam Plus report on Sunday (5/10/2025), Vietnam's Deputy Finance Minister Nguyen Duc Chi explained that the trial framework will only allow five licensed crypto exchanges to operate, while the Ministry of Finance is still formulating more detailed regulations related to taxation, compliance, and operational standards.
Until now, there have been no official proposals from companies wishing to participate in the program. However, some potential participants are said to have prepared technical systems and established preliminary discussions with ministry officials. The move comes less than a month after the Vietnamese government passed a resolution approving the implementation of a test of the crypto-asset market in the country.
The Program falls under the auspices of the Digital Technology Industry Law, a new law approved in June 2025 with the support of 441 out of 445 lawmakers.
